The 90-Day Corollary
It has been a crazy two weeks. The only thing any of us could be sure about was that it – whatever it was - would drastically change over the next 24 hours. Plans that were made were out of date by the following day.
However, I sense we’re getting past the dramatic shifts and settling into a temporary new normal.
The recovery legislation is in place; we know if we are essential or not, and it is safe to say the next 30 days will be spent sheltering-in-place.
So, now what?
Time to change your mindset - what you do today will begin to pay off in 90 days.
Often referenced when discussing habit formation, the little things you do today – and each day moving forward - will compound and begin to show in a few months. Small changes in your diet or workout routine today, will lead to a smaller waistline or better triglyceride numbers. Reading 10 pages a day turns into finishing three books. You get the idea.
In business – the actions you take today will also begin to show results in 90 days.
The marketing effort you start now will begin to drive awareness. Business development actions you take now will create new opportunities. The internal projects you start now will create new processes, tools, or other advancements. All of it, in ninety days, can appreciably change your conditions.
However, each day you remain in a reactive state, and not in control of your mind or direction, is another day you are kicking the can down the road to recovery.
So, let’s deal with what we have to deal with for part of the day to make the right decisions for our business, customers, and family members.
Then, look inward, and get to work on your ninety-day plan.
Ask yourself, In your role, what can you do now that will ensure you, your business, and or your team are in a whole different spot in ninety days. How can you come out of this situation stronger?
It’s a mindset. And right now, the right mindset is a competitive advantage.
